He also indicated that he would announce more bigger investments coming into Johor soon.
“The people of Johor are fortunate. I cannot make an announcement yet, but they are huge investments,” he said when simultaneously opening the delegates meetings of Umno divisions in Johor at the Persada Johor International Convention Centre
Tonight, Najib would be opening Legoland Malaysia
, a park packed full of family fun with more than 40 rides, shows and attractions.
“The new investment is even bigger than that of Pinewood Studios
,” he said. The Pinewood Studios Group
is one of the leading providers of studio and related services to the worldwide film and television industries.
The prime minister said the latest investment was a blessing from God to the people of Johor, and symbolised the government’s success in providing the best service to the people.
The large investments in Johor include the high-impact Iskandar Malaysia
development project and the RM60-billion Petronas Refinery and Petrochemical Integrated Development (Rapid) project in Pengerang near Kota Tinggi
Iskandar Malaysia, which was launched in November 2006, covers 2,217 sq km and has recorded accumulated investments from local and foreign investors to the tune of RM95.45 billion up to June this year.
Projects developed in the area include Pinewood Studios, Legoland Malaysia, Cruyff Court Iskandar, Johor Premium Outlet and campuses of Newcastle University Medicine and University of Southampton.
Rapid, when completed in 2016, will emerge as the biggest refinery and petrochemical complex in Asia.
